Luna Lounge - For many, Luna Lounge represents the old Lower East Side (i.e., pre-Schillers), when Elliott Smith hung out at the bar writing lyrics and not everyone and their grandma tucked their pants into their boots. Though the bar was a fun hangout by itself, the music was the priority, and many now-famous bands, including the Strokes and Interpol, got their start there. Sadly, Luna lost its lease. But now it's back! And bigger! This time in oh-so-appropriate Williamsburg. They're keeping it real by giving local and international up 'n comers a chance to perform in a quality space, and charging a relative pittance for admission with free post-show entry. As before, the website has an up-to-date calendar, if you're of the planning persuasion.
