The Box New York, Venue Description

Box, The - Walk through an unsuspecting door in a sketchy Lower East Side alleyway and step back in time as you enter The Box, a genuine 1930's-style vaudeville saloon. Well, maybe more gimmick than genuine, as this bar/lounge/music venue is a little more upscale than all that, with a sleek interior, modern menu and schmancy cocktail list. The Box presents live shows every night, with stage performances ranging from cabarets to full-length plays to surprise shows by big name artists. After the dinner hour performances, DJs take over the two-level space and an enthusiastic mixed-age audience parties all night.

Just so you know, the doorman (Gans) whom everyone below seems to be complaining about is actually an Albanian pedophile with a felony record and a history of molesting young boys. --------------------------- Luckily for you, though, he also is known for having a fondness for eating his own feces. So, in case you're interested, i.e., desperate enough to actually want to go to this Bridge & Tunnel club which was cool about 10 months ago but has definitely jumped the shark, here's a tip as to how to get into the doorman's good graces: dress up in a poopy diaper and ask him to lick the fecal matter off of your butt. Then, for good measure, throw in an offer to give him an old-fashioned rim job the way his crack-whore of a mother used to "back in the old country," and you'll be all good. Hope that helps. ---------- p.s. all kidding aside, the guy actually is a convicted pedophile , so please do think twice about spending your money at this LAME joint

Your Black AMEX wont get you through the door. (NOT Recommended)
Late Show: The host at the door was extremely RUDE!! They scan you up and down, make you wait outside even if you have a reservation. Unprofessional, and very (@$* Staff! Been there before for a early show - Show itself was alright - something different. However the interior is disgusting, old smelly furniture and way over priced for such garbage performances. You come ready to have a good time, pay thousands for an over rated experience and yet they treat you like a second class citizen. If you have respect for yourself, save your self the time and money by NOT going to "thebox" .

Do NOT Block The Box...Fine + 2 Points (NOT Recommended)
Usually, when you make reservations, you expect that the place you make them will honor them. I made reservations at The Box several weeks prior since I wanted to take out my friends for a good time on my birthday. I (who made the reservations) came with my wife first since our party (3 other ppl) were a little late. My wife and I came on time at 11:20pm and were asked if we had reservations and I told the guy with the hat that we did. He looks at the list which was hanging on a nail by the door and told us “I do not see your reservations & asked if it could have been on a different name”… I told him that it should be under my name. I personally saw my name on that list since it was hanging close to the velvet ropes. In any case…he told us that we had to wait until our entire party would arrive so that he could see if he would “like my friends”. He told me…”Im sorry for making you wait but you are not a regular customer and I need to see if your friends match our club”. When our party arrived at around 12ish..he told me “I like you, but I don’t like your friends”. I was like..WTF? is this guy kidding me? I told him it’s my bday and that I had made the reservations with Katherina. He told me…”ok..hold on..let me try to take care of you…but do me a favor and take care of me in return”.. Being the nice guy that I am.. I thought ok…ill slip him some $ for being such a “nice” guy. He went to talk to the lady (Katherina) whom I made the reservations and 3 min later, he returns and tells me..”ok..u can come to katherina and she will take care of you”…I thought to myself…”ok great..finally we can come inside, sit down and have a good time (When I made the reservations 2 weeks prior, the agreement was $1000 showcharge + 2 bottle minimum). When I came to Katherina hoping she would sit us down…she told me “it will be $1500 + 2 bottles + you will be sitting UPSTAIRS!. At that point, I was really pissed off. First the lowlife guy with the hat at the door outside insults my guests by telling me “he doesn’t like them” (and we were ALL dressed up according to The Box’s “Dress Code” (Jackets, & Outrageous) and now this Katharina lady whom I made the reservations is telling me it’s going to be $1500 which I would have agreed to if it was not for the “Upstairs seating” which sucks because you don’t get to be part of the show and the view is inferior. I was really pissed off and decided to leave and tell the guy at the door a few choice words. In conclusion.. I would like to say that I would not trust the box with your reservations if you are planning to go there. The show is filled with a lot of stuff you wouldn’t see anywhere but watching a guy stick a Jack Daniels bottom up his rectum and then take it out & drink from it is not worth the aggravations of the staff outside and their “policies”. If you want to be treated like dirt & insulted when you shell our $2,000++ for a night out then u can go to the box but I’m would not spend a dime at a place like that. This review does not do justice to the experience which we went through that night. As you can see from the other reviews..this is not something new.. the box is “known” for such antics.
