205 - This Lower East Side hipster hangout is scorching hot with a tough door. The majority of its appeal is summed up in the kitsch meets cool ambience… very few haunts are slick enough to get away with passing off taped up furniture as chic. However, 205 achieves this avant-garde attitude through highly stylized, reclaimed décor in a space that is rocking with house and disco music. The bright furnishings and standard Jack and Coke drinks actually pay homage to Andy Warhol’s former loft, The Factory. The diverse crowd is always looking to party, and if things get crazy, then head downstairs. There is usually a DJ spinning groovy tunes, and the personal ads are beyond hilarious. If that’s still not enough for you, check out the karaoke on Monday night – we think even Warhol would have found this entertaining.
