Duplex Diner - Kitschy. Very, very kitschy. That’s the easiest assessment of the Duplex Dinner. It’s filled with knick-knacks, memorabilia, objects d’art, and junk, junk, junk. The food is good, the beer and booze is reasonably priced, and the staff is friendly and humorous. The crowd rangers from the bohemian type you’d think were extinct in the nation’s capital, to a high-maintenance and well-maintained handsome gay crowd. As the night goes on, the retro 60’s room fills up with revelers and the place seems to be a pre-party stop for most of DC’s alterna-crowd.
