De Lux - De Lux, formerly Dinky’s Tavern & Grill, had a bit of a makeover and is prettying up the industrial-slash-gothic neighborhood. No more are the alcohol advertisements and slogans; even the “wall of drunks” is gone. But hey, at least they kept it a bar. Now the place has booth seating and a new coat of paint on its walls. TV screens cater to the sports crowd while the place still attracts the fashionable, funky crowd west of the river. De Lux is a pretty stylish restaurant—the menu includes grilled skirt steak and roasted potatoes, lasagna, pear and Gorgonzola salad and cheese quesadillas. While some menu choices skew on the pricy side, desserts like root beer floats, peanut butter and banana sandwiches and chocolate cookie sundae will set you back around $4-$5. Beer or chocolate? It shouldn’t be a tough choice, but with food this cheap and tasty, it is.
