Houndstooth Saloon - The next time you find yourself traveling down Clark St on a post-win victory jaunt or a post-loss death march, stop in Houndstooth Saloon for a little "southern hospitality on the north side." Since its opening St Patrick's Day 2006, Houndstooth has managed to draw a mixed but large and steady crowd of Wrigleyville locals and wandering fans of The Dark Horse, its brother bar across the street with the same owner. The waitresses have since retired their original uniforms of denim skirts and cowboy boots, but every inch of the red and white checkered walls seems to subtly scream "country bar," while maintaining a sort of Grandma's kitchen, kitsch-y comfort. Come early for southern favorites like gumbo, pulled pork, and po' boys, but expect to push your tush and scoot your boots on busy game days, when the crowd size – and the drink prices – face a bit of an increase.
