Gannon's Pub - At first glance, Gannon's looks like a pretty modern neighborhood bar, with little to suggest the building is in fact over 100 years old. Lest all character be leeched from the structure (following a 2004 renovation), the owners installed an ornate 1890s-era Brunswick bar. This, along with the well-worn hardwood floors, helps remind you of the establishment's true vintage. Though nominally an Irish bar, the décor is clean and restrained, which means you won't have to duck butter-churns nailed to the ceiling or erroneously aligned signs saying "Dublin: 50 miles." The crowd fits the surroundings: a not-too-fussy, laid-back after work group who turn up for the daily drink and food specials. The food is largely standard pub-grub peppered with the occasional oddball selection such as breaded pork Milanese or the warm gorgonzola dip. The liquor selection is decent, and there's a respectable range of eight draft beers. Gannon's will be able to accommodate even more of their Lincoln Park neighbors in June, when they open a brand new beer garden.
