The next time friends argue where to eat, take them to Askew. Part 60’s Mod, part 80’s Metallic Rock Minimalism, this new restaurant/bar offers a refreshing flair on the ole’ Tapas and ‘Tinis take. Centered conveniently at the apex of SoHo and the Villages, Askew brings Manhattanites together to eat, drink, and be merry-- under one brightly-lit ceiling lamp. Entrees vary from the traditional Jerk Chicken, to the more intriguing Eggplant Caponata with brioche and pinenuts—accented by a Morning After honey/lime martini. The frosted front glass offers privacy in the winter and outdoor dining in the summer, while exuberant staff keeps the experience upbeat and chatty. The bar’s kitschy decor might seem a little off-center, but the flavorful menu and atmosphere hit the mark.
