i agree with RT. I should have just walked away as soon as I was searched and yes molested at the door. The lady even checked my bra it was pretty bad all my other girl friends felt the same way. Not only that but the bar is very limited. I asked for a corona and i was given "el sol beer" which was pretty nasty plus it was $7. Btw the DJ wasnt the best it was dissapointing not here any reggeatton. I must say the bathrooms are clean and the decor of the place is nice. If you are looking for a spanish club to drink and have enough space to dance this is not it.

the reviews below are not accurate...first, as a member of sol's staff i know the owners NEVER smoke weed at the club, so that's just a bold face lie. second, searching with a pat down and scanners is what the city and nypd recommends to every club/lounge. the owners of sol are members of the ny nightlife association and make every attempt to lead by example on how a safe venue in nyc should be run. if being safe makes you feel violated, then so be it. the sol staff is a family and treats our customers the same way...

Ok let me start by re-iterating sol "SUCKS" . If you enjoy the feeling of being "molested" then sols the place for you, word of advice if you enter a place which not only physically pats you down but also scans you with metal detectors, this should be a sign thats "NOT" the place to be! Another red flag shouldve been the immense cop presence, as one bouncer so aptly put it "its for your safety" ..hmmm guess he must've meant this is a "reflection" of the crowd/people that frequents there. I would not recommend sol to anyone who just wants to go out have a fun time without feeling "violated" even before you purchase a drink!

sol sucks went there on friday march 21 2008 security takes money for id's they get paid to let ppl by search and even take money to allow smoking inside even saw thw owner smoking weed its not a safe place to many fights there drinks suck and to many weapons get in surprised no one has died yet they are racist and only think about making money wish sol would close already

I went there yesterday, here the scenario: My friend invited me to her B'day party in there. They had two tables and bottles of drinks. I reach at the door as a single black men, and I was told that my name is not on the list and that there was no one by such name as my friend that was having a party. Yet when I finished paying my $35 to get in my friend was there and the whole crew.
So , yeah SOL is a racist place, even some of our other friends that came there were told the same thing so that they can also pay $35.
And the music is not all that they make it out to be, about 6 to8 fights broke out in there.
If you want to wste your money, well it is a good place to go do that.
