Nokia Theatre Times Square - The former site of the Astor Plaza movie theater is now a massive live music venue that is definitely more new Times Square than old. Don’t expect to catch your favorite local bands; the lineup is heavy with radio-friendly rock acts. The sanitized space does away with some of the worst aspects of live rock music, like sticky floors and unfathomably dirty bathrooms), replacing them with comfy plush seats and a chic lounge area. Unfortunately the entire space feels like being trapped in a TV commercial, with Nokia and Heineken ads popping up everywhere. Nokia Theatre is 16 to enter, 21 and up for certain shows.
