Cain Luxe-- Cain always had one of the city's top décors, what it lacked these last few years however is the A-list crowd that the nightclub had come to be associated with when it first opened. Unfortunately despite a revamp, which transformed the previously African-themed joint into a Afro-Parisian one (think brass meets mohair) now called "Cain Luxe," the re-model not only failed to update the décor for the better, it seemingly failed to attract the crowd the revamp seemed aimed at. On the upside the bridge-and-tunnel crowd dancing and drinking the night away around faux elephant tusk columns isn't unbearably skin-to-skin like it ones was – though when it comes to skin, there's no lack of it showing in the skimpily dressed crowd (ie short dresses for the ladies, chest-hair for the men). There's also a new state-of-the-art sound system and the sexed-up, provocative dance troupe, Raising Cain, (kind of The Box meets an over-the-top Sweet 16 performance), is a nightly staple. Champagne lovers opting for bottle service will not be disappointed as there's a focus on the pricey French bubbly. All that said, Cain Luxe seems far from pioneering a 27th street's club row revival.
