Sunset Lounge Escondido

I guess I need to get back in there. I can't see that place as a club, and is there really enough room for it to be considered a "club" come on they go rid of WOODY's now they get rid of sunset. Dude that sucks. Really when we wanna party it up we have places like the gas lamp and stuff if we want our little hole in the walls we keep it local and go to our kareoke places and our bars. That's too bad. Oh well I guess all there is left is what's that biker bar on Grand called? ewww and I really hate it there.

All this stuff for one reason... Sunset has been around for years and been through many "Owner" changes. some good some not so good. but through all those changes the regular crowd has sustained the business. When you say why not look at all the different requests (karaoke, dancing, music, conversation, entertainment) and cater to all of them. Well it doesn't seem to be working.
I did approach the owner directly. I am a karaoke singer. I have bben going to sunset at least once a week for 8 count them Eight years. i don't always spend a ton of money but a steady 100-150 on average a month. and i have brought a lot of people in over time. NOt any more.
I was told that i basically could just take it or leave it when instead of the advertised Karaoke, we had one and one half hours of what is loosely called dance music when they kept announcing that there was a Forty (40 mind you) person wait for singing.
Business... hmmm.... truth in advertising is one aspect that has not been addressed.
the idea of advertising karaoke and not providing it is not what i call truth in advertising, when they separated out a night for dancing that was fine i switched days and idn't mind waiting for singers if singers were being brought up! i even didn't mind whe the KJ was arrogant and rude to the singers. I didn't even mind that the kj sang instead of taking him/herself out of the rotation so customers could sing as is usual kj etiquette. but when i am told that this is a dance and karaoke club and we would just have to deal with "dry humping " on the dance floor called dancing these days (yess i am older than you!!!) i get pretty fed up. I love to dance and will dance all night long given the opportunity but i dance top what singers sing!!! hello it's says KARAOKE on the signs and in the advertisements!! but no that is not the truth any more.
As to underage... welll i am no longer sure i have seen some that do not appear old enough but again i am older and may be mistaken but really .....
haven't witnessed the other stuff... don't want to and will not stick around to see.
sorry but it's no longer my cup of tea, or shot of T or what ever... good luck if you really bring back karaoke and actuallly try to cater to ALL your clients instead of just the friends of your kids maybe your regulars will come back.
PS... for evelyn about Nick if my
Cook was making threats on line about "Special Sauce" being added to burgers, i would wathch out for HEalth code enforcement. also when you exceed the legal number of clients and are not picky about ID'ing all, your should be looking for fire safety inspectors and copes checking id's!!! no threat just a suggestion!

Sorry to say that after reading all the reviews on here, I can share some of the complaints. First off about Evelyn, if you think she's not professional, she is she's just nice to everyone.
The karaoke B*!(# , sorry to say this is a BAR and there are people there to sing and dance all at the same time. So why not cater to everyone to please all your customers and keep them coming back. Last time I checked that's how you make a business grow!!!! Now all the people that are on here B*!(# and complaining, is there anything you can say nice about the bar. I mean damn it must be something because you were going there for a while to have all these complaints.
Could it be that out off all the bars in ESCO you can't find no where better to hang out except the "dive" bar as you put it? Now for the people fussing about karaoke there is a new show on Tuesday that you can go to if you don't like Fri, Sat, and Sun, but instead of talking bad about people how about give them suggestions. Be a real man or woman and tell people to their faces instead of gonig on the internet and calling them names.
Now Sid can be a bit pushy and an asshole, but that's him, and the same goes for Paul. If you really know these people that's how they are. But Shasta is a very nice girl and doesn't deserve to be call Fatty on here, just because you don't like her or she didn't give you any play.
Damn grow up people, and that's all I have to say.

Me (34) and my best friend(35) have been also going there for a couple years, and we have seen changes. Maybe not all good, but changes none the less. Sunset is different now....deal with it!
The crowd is getting younger..yes.
The music is getting louder...yes!
The drugs are on the rise....possibly, I dont know since we have never been approached.
All I know is that we still like Sunset...young crowd/loud music and all!

Nick the Cook................ you make some sense, but you are also a bit immature in your attitude about the 30 + crowd. And isnt it true that you wouldnt even have a job if it werent for the 30+ crowd? I honestly dont see any of the younger crowd in the bar eating food! Im just sayin!

I have been going to sunset for almost 4 years now, every weekend! Me and my friends were always very comfortable and loved meeting new people. The sunset Lounge experience used to be a good one...not anymore!
Yes, the crowd has gotten younger and younger, and I know for a fact that most of the new younger "customers" are under 21...I know this because they are people I know! Im not saying that Paul and Jimmy arent doing their jobs, but they are too busy trying to calm the immature drunks down, and breaking up fights (that happen EVERY weekend) to monitor who gets into the door anymore. And as of recent, I have noticed that Jimmy is pre-occupied with his newest girlfriend to know/care about what is really going on around the bar. I mean, dont get me wrong, I love Jimmy- when you are at work, anything that makes the nite go by quicker is Im sure a welcome distraction. But he is not getting paid to dance with his girlfriend, or feel her up, or pull her pants down. He's getting paid to be security at a bar that very sorely needs it! Paul seems to be the only one who really does his job. There is no favortism with Paul. He will kick your ass outta the bar (if u mess up) quicker than you realize. He is the only guy in all of sunset that knows whats going on, and how to really handle himself professionally! Do u hear that....word of the day...PROFESSIONALLY!
As for the drugs, I also know for a fact that it is a very real fact around the sunset lounge. It happens in the ladies bathroom!! I have walked in several times and found the nasty smell of marijuana lingering in the air! Nobody can tell me that drugs are not found around Sunset Lounge. I have been offered it by a couple people, and I have also been asked if I had any to give! SO, Anyone who says that drugs are not an issue at Sunset, has not been a real REGULAR at the bar and is probably part of the pot-smoking idiots group that think its cool!!
And the parking lot situation is absolutely ridiculous! People having sex in their cars...come on! If you need to have sex that badly, leave the damn bar and go next door to the seedy motel Mediteran!
Since the new ownership, the bar has improved as far as appearance. Evelyn has put a lot of money into fixing up the bar, and I applaude her for that. However, there is no loyalty to the regulars anymore! We are the ones who came back after the bar was shut down for violating its liquor license. We are the ones who visited the bar, during birthday parties, holiday parties, and any other event that Evelyn wanted to throw a party for! We are the ones who came back to sunet when the Saturday Nite dance nite was a terrible idea....Yet, we get talked down to when we make a complaint, or get told that we are just getting too old for the bar scene. EXCUSE ME- but i am 34 years old, and not too old for anything!!!!
And the bartending situation...let me just say this. If you are working the bar, stay at the bar! Several times me and my friends had to sit at the unattended bar waiting for drinks, for at least 10 mins before Evelyn or Shayna came inside to do their jobs!. Evelyn, being the owner, needs to get a handle on her slutty bartender girls. They are either outside smoking, or feeling up some cute guy outside, making out with some random guy, or is just too damn drunk to do her job!!! I wont name any names, but she knows who she is!!!
When Evelyn was at club tropics, she was nice, friendly, and very professional. She used to care about her regulars, but that has changed in the last couple months! I have witnessed the ice-slinging from Evelyn, and have witnessed her own bartenders getting pissed from being hit in the face by a chunk of ice! I watch her hug all these guys, and kiss them and then they think they are something special. Im sorry, but if she were a good business woman, she wouldnt need to hit on underaged white boys who think they are gonna go home with a buzz and a blow job from the owner of the dive bar they hang out at! Have some respect for your business and for yourself!!!

And I must say something about the current KJ's at sunset.
First of all, there is no professionalism in their performance as dj/kj. Sid has become such a fat head...and has treated all his potential singers like they were in a damn bootcamp! If he isnt demanding the singers to get up on stage, he is demanding the customers to "clap damnit"! He will stop the background music and yell into the mic..."i said CLAP damnit"! I dont like being told what to do by a fatboy KJ, so I ignore him. But most of the other people will do as he says, just to shut him up, and listen to more music. This is where the lounge experience is dead. You cant even have a converstion with your friends because u have to stop every 5 mins to do what the fatboy says! And most of the time, the music is so damn loud, you cant hear yourself think. The bartenders cant hear what you want, your friends cant hear what u say, and the drunks cant hear that they are being called up on stage to make a fool of themselves!
The new KJ...Shasta McNasty(aka Shasta Mc Fatty)....well, let me just say this. GROSS! She doesnt do a good job at all! I understand she has been only doing it for a short time, but if she hasnt improved yet, dont hold your breath! She needs to be trained on what to do, or get someone else in there who does know what they are doing! And her appearance has left a LOT to be desired! I dont have a problem with her tattoos...that are all over her arms and legs, but I do have a problem with her choice of clothing and her greasy unprofessional look. I thought I was frequenting a business, not a grease hole!
Evelyn should be ashamed of herself! Shayna should be ashamed of herself. Angela should be embarrassed by her co-workers!

Now, for my comment to whoever this JD is....guess what? U are a loser like the rest of them. You are probably one of the younger underaged asswipes who thinks u know what is really going on around there. You are sorely mistaken! Who the hell are you to think that you can tell anyone....just go on Tuesdays..take it over! Why dont u go on tuesdays? Oh wait, you cant cuz its a school nite.. LOSER! and to bring up anyone's name on here, that just shows how lame you are. You need to read the rules of "anonymous" reviews!

And Paul...your comment just shows the immaturity that Sunset Lounge now caters to!

I know I wont be handing over my hard earned moneyanymore to a bar that is turning into the local drug-sex-immatuarity club for all you losers!!!

had grunge bands in their venue. That was their downfall. Sunset tried saturday night dance nights. That failed. The place was dead.
So now they have saturday karaoke. That was to lure the regulars back. Then we get the dance junk forced on us. Comstock is offering us strictly karaoke on saturday nights. It's a whole new set up over there. I'm going to give them a chance. Maybe they will have a little more appreciation for me and me two hundred friends per month.
Try tuesday night dance night and serve soda pop and rootbeer floats!
