Rainbow Bar & Grill - Created in the 70s as a place for record execs to check out new acts, have drinks, and do lunch, the Rainbow was made by the music industry for the music industry. There are still elements of this origin in the memorabilia covering the walls, the dying-to-get-signed bands that the Rainbow usually features, but especially in the big names of the past that still hang out there regularly including Lemmy from Motorhead and the ever-present Slash. Of all the Sunset bars, Rainbow is the one having the most trouble moving on after its popularity exploded in the 80s. But most of the glammed and tattooed crowd seems happy to keep it that way. If you’re not a big Motley Crue or Dokken fan, don’t fear. The uniquely-designed upstairs bar hosts a mix of folk, punk and hard rock, and the restaurant and outdoor patio downstairs has plenty of decent food. The greasy pizza is a popular favorite.
