IF YOU'RE BLACK, TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE
The post by Mrs. is exactly right. Access to the 3rd floor is FREE and only given to whites. If there are any blacks on that floor they either work at the club or know somebody that does. The first time this happened to us we actually spoke to some of the employees and even a black manager about the issue. Although we spoke to them separately their solution was the same..."get here early." Wow...
My wife and I live in Memphis and frequent Beale St. a lot. Were actually there about 2 hrs ago. We know how the club is but, for fun we went to the "VIP" line to see if we could get wristbands. The guy saw us coming toward him and actually WALKED AWAY! There are two entrances. One is where you pay and the other is for people with wristbands only. There were no whites in the "pay" line. At the wristband only door, They have guys with handfuls of wristbands. ONE OF THOSE GUYS WALKS UP AND DOWN THE STREET WITH HIS WRISTBANDS OFFERING THEM TO PEOPLE. If he was handing them out to everyone dressed appropriately, cool; couples only, fine. But to only give them out to white couples or groups of whites really upset me. I had on a button down shirt, jeans WITH A BELT, and loafers but still couldn't get in. "redeyejedi913" must work for the club. We watched the "special" entrance for about 30 mins and saw white guys getting in with ragged cargo shorts, flip flops, and torn ball caps!!! What "strict dresscode" allows ripped ball caps, ragged shorts and flip flops????? Heres a list of excuses they'll give to people they turn away:
"You have to go to the other door to pay." (Even when I watched 2 groups of people get wristbands and go in for free)
"There is a private party tonite" (My favorite, although the guy telling you this doesn't have a clipboard or guestlist anywhere)
Theres a dress code. (If I were dressed inappropriately this one would be ok. BUT since I was, I asked what was wrong with what I had on and I was ignored)
