Home Town Greatness
is a Lakeland Florida institution, a local right of passage, famous for the "21st" birthday party, and great burgers. The only posted rule is that "You must play well with others or play somewhere else.", and I am told that "Don't tell mom" is the only unposted rule. There is a local game of how many Slammers logos can you spot in one day, and the shirts and hats are all over the place. Its local, its loud, its smokey, and friendly, fun, ran by the Tony Adams Family, you can find one of them there if it is open. Slammers is unapologetically a hole in the wall bar, no snob value there. The drinks are strong and cheap and there is a bogo card good for one drink a day, your choice, no restrictions. There is a camera on the parking lot so you can watch your bike or see your ex and exit through the other door. They speak football, flip bottles, are a good resource for local activities, and help you find keys and phones and put you in a cab or make sure you get home safely.
