Cocktail Hour: Hennessy Sidecar

Some of the best bars in your town can’t be found. Sorry Google lovers, it won’t even be listed. It will lurk in the shadows, but if you’re one of the lucky few to track it down, a password is required upon entry. Since Prohibition, speakeasies have long been forbidden, but if the Roaring ‘20s have taught us anything (or “Boardwalk Empire” for those who haven’t had a chance to brush up on their history) it’s that some of the best parties are often held at local secret watering holes all thanks to their tantalizing cocktails. Classics like the Tom Collins have yet to go out of style, which can explain why like drinks from speakeasies are still adored by night owls. The Sidecar, a perfect union of the beloved three (sweet, strong and sour), has been the must-have evening concoction since it first debuted in Paris during World War I. Recently, the Sidecar has gotten a makeover with smoother cognac and a hint of extra zest. The Hennessy Sidecar is incredibly easy to make and best of all, it’s the best way to welcome the cooler, wintry climate.

And you thought the Jazz Age was over.
