The Fauxcialite: To Check or Not To Check?

So you’ve accepted it. The cold weather is here to stay. Sure, this means apple orchards, pumpkin spiced lattes and candy corn. But with the fun fall activities comes a tough decision: when it’s time to go out at night, do you deal with the hassle of checking a bulky coat or brave the cold sans-outerwear? Your internal battle begins: to check or not to check? Below is a list of pros and cons to help you decide.

PRO:
-You can wear absolutely whatever you want underneath (tank top, V-neck t-shirt, or strapless little black dress) and not have to hide that gorgeous body you worked on all summer.

-You save money braving the cold in your coat by taking the subway and walking to your destination (Read: not screeching and sprinting to find the nearest cab).

-If you have to wait in line once you arrive, you won’t pass out from hypothermia.

CON:
-The cost. Coat check prices in the city range from $2 to $10. If you have to pay a cover charge in addition to that, your night is already pretty expensive, and you’re barely in the door.

-You could lose your coat check number (been there!). Not only do you have to go home coat-less, but you have to come back the next day once all the other jackets are gone to describe yours in detail and claim it.

-No seriously, the cost. Maybe I’m just super cheap, but if you’re also buying food and/or drinks, the cost of one night out adds up fast.
