If you can remember prancing around in your best Material Girl or Wham! getup, then chances are you’re familiar with one of New York City’s
most iconic dance clubs. After closing its doors for food, Manhattan’s
Culture Club is back in time for the fall season in a new, swanky Midtown location. Club creators Robert Watman and Tim Ouellette are seeking to give today’s night owls the chance to live or relive the ‘80s and ‘90s all over again.

“Everything about the ‘80s was over-the-top and that’s how I envision Culture Club,” says Watman. “My goal is to serve those who did not grow up in the ‘80s and those who want to relive the era when everything was just a little bit bigger, louder and brighter.”
According to Watman and Ouellette, patrons can expect flashy Saturday Night Fever dance floors, original tour memorabilia from rock band Bon Jovi and pop princess Debbie Gibson, as well as giant images from classic flicks, like Breakfast Club and Top Gun.
Can’t wait to show off your Rubik’s cube and Boy George makeover? Don’t fret, the grand opening of
Culture Club is Wednesday, October 5th at 7 p.m. and will be hosted by Gibson herself, also known as the Britney Spears of her day (unless you were a Tiffany fan, but don’t even get us started on that). And in case you miss out on the event, the owners ensure us that Culture Club will continue to feature four different DJ’s on each floor, as well as special live acts.
Expect plenty of Depeche Mode, neon couture, brooding Robert Smiths, and an unforgettable throwback night out.
