Chick Beer? A New Brew for Ladies

Creamy, smooth, thirst quenching, or just plain good-every social drinker has their own signature beer that makes weekends or happy hours that much sweeter. With hundreds of brews from around the world to choose from, ranging in everything from dark and spicy to light and crisp, you wouldn’t think one was made for a specific gender, right? Well, one woman thinks so.

Maryland-based resident Shazz Lewis was just like any gal on the hunt for an amazing night out. However, she felt that none of the beers provided at her favorite watering holes were specifically catered to her as a woman. So what does she do? Develop a new drink, simply titled Chick Beer. Unlike other brands, Chick Beer has only 97 calories and just 3.5 carbs per bottle. Sounds like a good idea, considering most beers are behind the swimsuit-busting potbelly, right?

Not exactly.

Lewis, who wanted Chick Beer to be made for a specific audience, went all out to make her creation the most feminine thing one could possibly order. She chose an ultra pink packaging and a sleek design that resembles a woman rocking a little black dress. Plus, the beer carrier resembles a cutesy purse.

Sounds like a bad hangover to us.

Truthfully, Lewis is actually onto something. Low-calorie cocktails are all the rage in bars across the country. While those luscious Piña Coladas are tasty, they can easily pack on the pounds. Therefore, it only makes sense that patrons are provided the option to watch their figures without limiting themselves on taste. Even reality TV star Bethany Frankel made millions with her Skinny Girl Margarita, which like Chick Beer, has a low calorie content and girly packaging.

Chick Beer is available in Maryland only, but Lewis is currently looking for distributors to help expand the line.

Tell us, will you be trying Chick Beer when it hits a bar near you?
