Fashion's Night Out Cocktails

This Thursday, September 8th is going to be one of the biggest party nights of the year and it’s not just because Fridays are overrated. Fashion's Night Out, the “after-hours shopping extravaganza” that takes place after hours, is the time to celebrate with celebrities, couture designers, and world renowned DJs as they host parties all throughout New York City. Sure, it’s a great excuse to stock up on new stylish threads for the upcoming seasons, but social drinkers know all too well that Fashion’s Night Out is the perfect time to savor cocktails for free. Forget those champagne flutes, Fashion’s Night Out is where you can catch the hottest bartenders in nightlife mixing up some mouthwatering, trendsetting elixirs that are certain to be in demand every weekend. Whether you’re prepping to show off your Prada or just want an excuse to hit the dance floor with supermodels, here’s a preview of what you can expect this Fashion’s Night Out from behind the bar. Grab your cocktail and work it.

Couture-tini

Fashion’s Night Out is undoubtedly one of the most stylish events of the year, so it only makes sense that ladies and gents will be sipping on Little Black Dress Wine! Loehmann’s at Manhattan’s trendy Chelsea neighborhood will be serving The Couture-tini, a sweet concoction of bubbly, smooth white wine, and fresh strawberry puree. Just like a little black dress, the Couture-tini is a must have for any fashionable fiesta.

Couture-tini Recipe

Ingredients

3 oz. Little Black Dress Chardonnay
½ oz. Strawberry puree
¼ oz. Agave nectar
Korbel Brut Champagne
1 Strawberry

Preparation
In a shaker filled with ice, combine wine, strawberry puree, and agave nectar. Strain into a chilled martini glass. Top with champagne.

Pineapple Palm

The Pineapple Palm is always a favorite among bartenders in New York City during Fashion’s Night Out and we completely understand why-it’s just too irresistible. The cocktail’s refreshing blend of pineapple-infused vodka, lime juice, and basil leaves for a touch of spice invokes steamy nights out in Miami. Yet, the Pineapple Palm’s dazzling look is ideal for fashionistas looking for the perfect accessory to match their couture.

Pineapple Palm Recipe

Ingredients

1.5 oz. SKYY Infusions Pineapple
1 oz. Lime Juice
¼ oz. Simple syrup
3 Basil Leaves
1 Pineapple slice

Preparation
Muddle, shake, and strain ingredients into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with pineapple slice.

Gimlet

One cocktail that never fails to rule supreme during Fashion’s Night Out is the classic Gimlet-a fashionista’s true best friend. “Mad Men” fans may recognize it as Betty Draper’s preferred poison, but it’s also a cool concoction that makes even the iciest supermodels crack a smile. The Gimlet is tangy, faintly sweet, and keeps patrons feeling refreshed in between mingling with designers and shopping until they drop.

Gimlet Recipe

Ingredients

1 ½ oz. Vodka
¾ oz. Lime juice
3-4 Lime slices

Preparation
Pour vodka and lime juice into mixing glass. Shake and strain into martini glass. Add 3-4 lime slices.

Golden State

If you find yourself partying at Manhattan 34th street during Fashion’s Night Out, then you’ll want to make your way to Levi’s to experience one of their coolest debuts. Ryan Maerz, mixologist for New York City catering company Canard, Inc., is going to be debuting some tasty treats for guests at the denim shop. His Golden State is a flowery meets spicy number that’s zesty, refreshing, and ends with a sudden tang that’s certain to please taste buds.

Golden State Recipe

Ingredients

1.5 oz. Vodka
½ oz. St. Germain Elderflower Cordial
2 oz. White grapefruit juice
1 oz. Chilled ginger beer
1 Grapefruit twist

Preparation?Add all ingredients in a cocktail shaker and shake. Pour in a chilled highball or rocks glass. Garnish with a grapefruit twist.

Ski Breeze

Chances are that we won’t get a sudden blizzard during Fashion’s Night Out, but who says we can’t channel a bit of winter wonderland? The evening is all about exploring emerging trends and one thing shoppers will be spotting is new couture for the upcoming freezing months. It’s no wonder Claire Smith, Head of Mixology at Belvedere Vodka, decided to create one cocktail that invokes that urgency to stock up on new designs for the chilly season. The Ski Breeze is undoubtedly arctic cold, but it’s also luscious and smooth, all thanks to icy cranberry juice and citrus-infused vodka. Fashion’s Night Out will heat up your wardrobe, but don’t forget to cool down with this yummy number.

Ski Breeze Recipe

Ingredients

2 oz. Belvedere Citrus
3 oz. Cranberry juice
3 oz. Apple juice
1 Lime or orange slice

Preparation?Fill a highball glass full of cubed ice and add ingredients. Garnish with a lime or orange wedge.

Brazilian Smash

During last year’s Fashion Night Out, Victoria’s Secret angel Alessandra Ambrosio showed Brazilian pride at Carlos Miele’s boutique with Leblon Caipirinhas, the official spirit of Brazil. While it’s being kept secret whether Ambrosio will make another grand appearance, we do know that Carlos Miele in Manhattan will be serving the Brazilian Smash in honor of the party’s theme, “Brazilian Bash.” While the Brazilian Smash resembles a typical strawberry basil caipirinha, this recipe specifically features a bursting flavor of juicy, sweet strawberries, sun kissed basil, and a touch of sugar, all enhancing the cachaca’s naturally fruity notes. Go Brazil!

Brazilian Smash Recipe

Ingredients

2 oz. Leblon Cachaca
3 Strawberries
3 Torn basil leaves
2 tsp. Superfine sugar
¼ Lime, cut in wedges

Preparation
Muddle the lime, strawberries, basil, and sugar in a shaker. Fill the shaker with ice and add cachaca. Shake well and serve in a rocks glass. Garnish with a strawberry.
