Whether you’re a cocktail guru or just prefer the occasional drink, everyone is familiar with the popular Bellini, also known as the sweet nectar of night owls. During those sun-soaked afternoon brunches, nothing quenches one’s thirst faster than a chilled flute overflowing with sparkling prosecco (the Italian variation of champagne) and peach puree. The Bellini, which first originated in Venice, has long been a sweeter alternative to more tangy Mimosas, but one New York City venue is giving this beloved recipe a makeover. Lavo, an Italian bistro meets ultra chic nightclub, is known for mouthwatering dishes, but their Lavolini is infamous. Their take on the Bellini, which features fresh passion fruit puree, smooth St. Germain Elderflower liqueur, and blood oranges, has become a favorite among celebrities, including as Kim Kardashian, Cameron Diaz, and Kristin Cavallari. Created by mixologist Ketih Nelson, the Lavolini will have you singing another tune. That’s amore.
