Cinco de Mayo may be a Latin holiday commemorating Mexico’s victory at Battle of Puebla in 1862, but it’s also one sizzling fiesta that everyone likes to celebrate with tequila in hand. If the usual weekend shooters just don’t cut it on this special day, consider giving the margarita, well, a shot. There are hundreds of ways to make the classic margarita, but on Cinco de Mayo, make sure you heat up your night with a new drink, like the Margarita en Fuoco (Margarita on Fire). Served at A Voce Columbus and A Voce Madison in New York City, this steamy concoction features house-made tequila infused with a medley of peppers, creating a smoky, lightly spicy flavor. The Margarita en Fuoco also includes peperoncino, an Italian variation of chili that gives this hot concoction some extra heat. Add blood orange liquor and you’re left with a smooth, yet dangerously alluring number. Spice up your Cinco de Mayo and break a sweat on the dance floor.
