After five years of waiting, Daft Punk are finally ready to release their first original work since Human After All in 2005. The highly anticipated score for the new Tron Legacy film is ready to be showcased, an album that was recorded with a 90-piece orchestra and was heavily inspired by other film scores that were favorites of the duo. Guy Manuel and Thomas Bangalter have always closely linked their music to visual work. Their 2001 Discovery album was said to be written as a score to a film they produced with Leiji Matsumoto, a highly praised anime legend. Not to mention they have film experience themselves with the picture they wrote and directed in 2006, Electroma.
Don't expect the Tron Legacy score to be much like their previous work. Bangalter says that it's their most classical sounding work to date. "This is what Daft Punk would have done in 1700," said Bangalter in a recent interview with Dazed and Confused. Check out the video below that features the track, "Derezzed."
