Richie Hawtin has joined forces with the online production platform Burn Studios for a Plastikman remix competition. The winner with the best remix will have their track released on the digital release of Arkives.
The tune to be remixed is “Ask Yourself” chosen from Plastikman's 2003 album Closer, a piece that consistently makes his live shows. Contestants can rebuild the song from the bottom up, creating new basslines, strings and vocals. Hawtin promises to personally review each submission; the winner will have their remixed version of the track released through Minus.
The winner will receive a hefty gift voucher from Avid, the business behind M-Audio and Pro Tools, as well as a free SoundCloud pro account. Five runners up will receive an M-Audio Torq MixLab, M-Audio's Avid Recording Studio and a SoundCloud lite account. The contest starts today and all entries will be received through December 31st. Get busy, the winner will definitely get major hype by the time it’s finished.
