Clubplanet Pick of the Week: Drai's Hollywood

If you’re looking for a night of old-school Hollywood glamour, then Drai’s Hollywood is the place to get your 1940s vixen-meets-the-silver-screen vibe going. Exquisite décor and posh partiers are just the start of a night filled with charm and sophisticated luxury while having and all-out wild time.

Located on top of the modern W Hotel, your night starts with breathtaking views of the city and a glittering pool surrounded by bottom-lit palm trees for you to lounge near. Drai’s Hollywood sprawls out across 20,000 square feet of chic atmosphere including awe-inducing views of the L.A. backdrop out of panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows. And if you’re looking to roll through Drai’s and feel the ultimate weight of high-class lavishness, opt to ascend the glass-railed stairs for the best spot in the place, the VIP balcony overlooking the pool and all of Los Angles.

Richly decorated in silver, gold and brown snakeskin-embossed couches, gold mirror tiles and red-shaded gold lamps, Drai’s Hollywood feels like a scene from an Ingrid Bergman or Humphrey Bogart film back in the prime of superior cinema. Outside the scene is set with sun beds and sectional sofas surrounding a fire pit for those breezy nights when your vintage fox-fur coat just isn’t keeping out the chill. A raised Ipe-wood deck adorned with Moroccan-inspired cabanas, complete with lounging sofas and flat screen TV’s gives you your own private screening area, curtains closed, for your entire entourage.

Hitting the dance floor suddenly transports you to Vegas set inside a large lounge lined with banquettes. World-renowned DJ’s spin your favorite records inside a massive carved wooden frame as you dance and catch a glimpse of yourself in the mirrored, ceiling-high columns surrounding you. Get a taste of the good life at the bar for a cucumber martini with gin, melon liquor and fresh watermelon or a Pineapple Crush with fresh peaches and coconut cream, each available in glass or carafe form.

This is the L.A. scene you see in movies; the people are gorgeous and the stars come out to play all the time. The hottest nights to party are Wednesday’s and Saturday’s. Access to this 12th floor chic hangout of the voyeuristic Hollywood jetsetters may take time and patience to get into, but once you walk through the velvet ropes and set foot inside Drai’s Hollywood, you’ll feel like nothing else compares to the extravagance of this ultra-luxe club.
