What more could you want from New York City than the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, the great Central Park and one of the best nightlife scenes in the nation? One of the most talked about haunted houses in the U.S. of course. While NYC has plenty to offer as far as attractions go, there's one haunting event that returns each and every year that conjures up screams from locals and visitors alike. Returning for the 6th year is
Blood Manor, New York City's premier haunted attraction.
If you haven't heard of
Blood Manor yet, then you must be living under a rock. Sure, New York City may only be known for frights involving rats and crime in the subway, but when it comes to top notch entertainment at an unbeatable price, it doesn't get any better than this annual event. While you may think that it's the same schtick every year at
Blood Manor, think again.
"This year
Blood Manor is about 40% all new," said co-creator Jim Faro. "We have about eight new environments. There's "Wolves Den," "Zombie Attack," "It's Alive," "Vortex Laser Tunnel," "Serial Killer's Thriller" and more. There's also several new cast members that bring a new fresh energy to the experience."
Although the most challenging aspect of having a successful haunted house running every year is to keep the screams coming,
Blood Manor happens to do it each and every year with ease.
"It's important to keep things new and fresh for the people that keep coming back every year," Faro says. "But we also have a couple of rooms that we don't change by popular demand because people want that room, like the dining room with Tiny, my 560 lbs. semi-nude actor covered in blood at the table."
The masterminds behind the annual project are Faro, Mike Rodriguez and Jim Lorenzo, three guys that know their scares and have an appreciation for Halloween. Faro and Rodriguez were avid Halloween goers, throwing immense Halloween parties in their homes for nearly 20 years before meeting each other and sharing their hobbies. When event producer Lorenzo was added to the mix, it was the perfect combination that would lead to
Blood Manor.
"Our success lies in our attention to detail from a creative point of view," Faro says. "When you walk through our hallway and into the first room, we want to increase the belief that you just came off the 5th floor of a walkup on 27th Street. You're in
Blood Manor, and when you leave you're snapped back into reality."
Tickets for the event are currently on sale and the scares all begin this Saturday night.
