In an orchid-filled room, hip-hop king Jay-Z threw his R&B queen Beyonce a huge birthday bash to celebrate her 29th birthday on Saturday. The Darby, a brand new upscale Chelsea supperclub from owners Scott Sartiano and Richie Akiva, opened early for the songstress and her A-list friends. The bash was over-the-top with a six-layer cake and a serenade of Stevie Wonder’s “Happy Birthday” by DJ Cassidy to the beautiful songstress.
The event was of course star-studded and filled with music moguls like Alicia Keys and Kanye West, as well as tennis pro-athlete Serena Williams. And what’s a party without New York staple Sean “Diddy” Combs who arrived to toast the gorgeous diva and who ended up being one of the last to leave. Rumor has it that the bash went down until 6 a.m., which is nothing less than expected from such a rockin’ guest list. Happy birthday, B!
