The Best Themed Parties in NYC

The Best Themed Parties in NYC

These days, it seems all of New York has become conditioned to just accept nightlife as it is. Not that we don’t love the classic club outing, but the typical Saturday night can definitely become monotonous, and you pick a venue only hoping you will end up having a good time. Well, just like our parents used to do at birthday parties when we were younger, a handful of clubs have started throwing themed parties, to ensure that our nights are always exciting and over the top. We knew to expect more than just drink specials when we were younger (such as the house apple juice), so Clubplanet has compiled a list of the best weekly themed parties in NYC, to help you regain the standards of your childhood, and give you a unique and great night you can count on.

Best Themed Party in NYC: Salsa Mondays @ Taj Lounge
48 West 21st St | New York, NY 10010

Mondays can be a drag, and if you are looking to spice things up, definitely come out for Salsa Mondays at Taj Lounge. Doors Open at 5 p.m., followed by a free hour of salsa lessons at 6:30 p.m. Afterwards, they play live salsa music and feature dance performances, all accompanied by drink specials served all night long. Taj Lounge is a gorgeous club in itself, with two levels and Indian accented accented decor, and also keeps the doors of its restaurant open until 10 p.m. A bit of salsa and fine dining at Taj will definitely fire up your week.

Best Themed Party in NYC: Back to the '80s @ Canal Room
285 West Broadway | New York, NY 10013

If you miss the synthesizer-dominated, dance-rock hits of the '80s, every Saturday night the Canal Room brings you their Back to the '80s show. They always bring in the best of '80s music, with live music from '80s cover bands platying all night long, and DJs that spin only the best of that era. The place is always packed, and it’s one of those parties that really never gets bad reviews, and we definitely suggest you check it out. You don’t have to tease your hair or put on your neon spandex jumpsuit, but if you did you probably wouldn’t get any strange looks either.

Best Themed Party in NYC: Circus Saturdays @ Webster Hall
125 East 11th St | New York, NY 10003

Going to Webster Hall is almost always a surefire way to have a good night, especially on Saturday nights at their Circus Saturday party. This is one of the most unique, fun, and not to mention consistent, theme parties in NYC. The party features the real components of a circus, like trapezes, fire breathers, and snake charmers. Combined with Webster’s sexy and sleek club setting and lots of dancing, you definitely have an insane party at your firnger tips. And what is also a nice touch is that you only have to be 19 or over to attend, as with every Webster Hall event.

Best Themed Party in NYC: Havana Wednesdays @ Penthouse 808 at the Ravel Hotel Rooftop
808 Queens Plaza South | Long Island City, NY 11101

If you are in the mood for an all out hot and sexy havana themed night, head over to the Ravel Hotel Rooftop on a Wednesday. They play a mix of salsa, merengue, house, classics, and top 40, and specialize in tropical drinks like mojitos and sangria. They also have great hookah specials, when normally hookah is a hard thing to come by at trendy clubs. Covered by a retractable glass roof, whether the night is chilly or rainy, the party can always go on. A great option for any Wednesday night, come to Havana Night to dance or just chill while overlooking the Queensborough Bridge and the beautiful Manahttan skyline.

Best Themed Party in NYC: Soak The City @ The City
One Radisson Plaza | New Rochelle, NY 10801

Sometimes a person needs to get out of the city, and spend some time around trees and grass. It’s also nice when there is a club out in the midst of the “countryside” (i.e the suburbs) that can give you the same great night as a club in NYC. The City, located in Westchester, NY fulfils that need perfectly, and also happens to throw down a great weekly themed party. Every Friday night they host their Soak at the City party, a great pool party that never charges a cover fee. They also play live music to keep your night going. Don’t overlook this club just because it’s a train ride away, The City has received multiple awards, and definitely lives up to its name by truly acting as a slice of NYC in the suburbs.
