Heineken and nightlife in Miami have always gotten along. Recently they’ve really been pushing their products on the Latin market in the city, and it certainly has been paying off. Last year there were a series of events located at some of the best nightlife venues in the city including Nikki Beach Club, La Covacha and even in Coconut Grove. This year, they’re back in Miami, but putting together a big event that’s taking place in the Design District this Friday and Saturday.
This weekend Heineken presents “MezclaSonic,” an event featuring a special mix of performances that include Tito el Bambino, The Mexican Institute of Sound, Nacotheque and D’marquesina. The DJs will apparently “combine Caribbean and Mexican nostalgia form the 80s and 90s with contemporary, urban sounds of today.” It’s definitely an amalgamation of culture and music that will definitely feature some goodies by one of the most popular beer brands in the world.
Things kick off tomorrow at 3 p.m. with DJ Irie, but things really kick up at 9 p.m. with performances by Cold War Kids, The Hold Steady and DJ Chad Hugo. Cold War Kids and The Hold Steady have recently released albums that have been getting immense praise, so this is a great opportunity to see them play in Miami. On Saturday MezclaSonic starts at 2 p.m. with Fabolous, DJ Irie and Wale, and once the sun sets Nacotheque, Mexican Institute of Sound and Tito El Bambino take the stage.
This is definitely a unique event that we hope continues to grow into something really special. It’s always great to have big names in live music come to Miami. With events such as these the sky is the limit for the live music scene in the city.
