Hip-hop may have originated on the east coast, but no one knows how to throw a good hip-hop party like the west coast. There’s always a constant groove in the room with just the right amount of bass to please the dance floor. With LA’s nightlife scene spanning this great city from North to South, there are a hell of a lot hip-hop parties, but only a select few that are worth checking out. We’ve compiled a short list of the top hip-hop parties in Los Angeles that we think you should definitely consider.

Top Hip-Hop Party in LA
Saturdays w/ Mike Palmieri @ Kress
6608 Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90028

It’s always good to have some great hometown DJs, and when it comes to hip-hop in Los Angeles, DJ Mike Palmieri is just that. Every Saturday night he mixes things up at Kress Hollywood alongside Tye Mohwak who works the drums. It’s almost like what the late great DJ AM had going with Travis Barker, but they’re starting a following of their own. Sometimes it gets a little boring just to stare at the DJ the entire night, so when there’s a live music element in the mix, it only helps things out. There’s an open bar from 10-11 p.m. so be sure to arrive early and down some drinks before the real music begins. When it comes to hip-hop parties in LA, Kress hosts one of the best. Thursdays @ Playhouse
6506 Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90028

While a majority of people think that the weekend kicks off on Friday night, think again. It’s all about Thursdays, and Playhouse Thursdays hosts one of the top hip-hop parties in the city with Mr. Mauricio taking the stage with help from Jonny Boy and DJ Gusto. This Saturday night they’re bringing in Eric Dlux as the special guest, but we know that the consistent crowd at this party loves their residents here. What’s great about Playhouse is the upstairs balcony. Nightlife junkies can’t stand in one place for too long, so it’s always good to have a second option. Click here for more information.

Listen Deep @ The Highlands
6801 Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90028

We mentioned it earlier, more options in a nightclub are better than just one. But when you have three different areas, with three great DJs playing in each area, that just takes the cake. That’s the case with The Highlands weekly hip-hop party, Highlands Saturdays. Each and every week they pack out the venue (which is basically three clubs in one) in the heart of Hollywood. They bring in special weekly DJ guests, and this week they’re featuring DJ Prophecy with Hollywood’s sexiest gogo dancers. “Sexiest gogo dancers”? We’ll have to see that to believe it. Saturday Night Live @ Tatou Supper Club
333 S. Boylston Street, Los Angeles, CA 90013

A lot of promoters say that they’re the best, but only few deliver. At for Tatou Supper Club’s Saturday night hip-hop party, Saturday Night Live, these guys truly deliver an event that’s worth checking out at least once. Everyone here is always decked out to the nines because if you bring anything else to the velvet rope, you’ll be hanging around there for quite some time. This places always brings in some A-listers including Tyga, Ray J, Mike Jones, Omarion and Mack 10 as well as athletes like Shannon Brown, Marcus Williams and Steve Smith. If these are coming to Tatou on Saturday night for old school hip-hop, R&B and raggae, then you should definitely consider it. Click here for more information and tickets.

Paparazzi Thursdays @ The Cabana Club
1439 Ivar Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90028

Paparazzi Thursdays at Cabana Club is a party that’s taken a lot of shape lately. The venue, much like Tatou, also brings in big names, but the setup is quite different. There are private VIP rooms located in four distinct VIP areas. That alone is an attractive feature for celebrities that just want to stay away from the thick of the crowd and hang with their entourage. From old school hip-hop to raggae (like this Saturday’s event with Pressure), the mood is always right at this top Los Angeles weekly party. This week all the ladies get in free before 10:30 and drink for free as well. Click here for more information and tickets.
