Top Hip-Hop Parties in NYC

To make it as a top hip-hop party in New York City, you need a little something more than good music. A good DJ is key, but if you don’t pull in a good crowd, or radiate with swagger, then you’re just another run-of-the mill nightclub playing hip-hop jams, and whether they’re good or bad really makes no difference, unless you’ve got the whole package. Our picks for the top hip-hop parties in NYC flow with good tunes, strong booze and a whole lotta style, so you may want to check them out next time you’re itching for a hot party with some solid hip-hop beats.

Fame & Fortune Fridays @ The Imperial
17 West 19th Street, New York, NY 10003

If you haven’t already heard, we are here to say it once again: Fame & Fortune Fridays at The Imperial is by far one of the hottest hip-hop parties in NYC. With a weekly Hot97 Live Broadcast with DJ Bobby Trends and A-list guests gracing the turntables and the microphones week after week, how could we not include this stellar bash on our list of top hip-hop parties in NYC? In the past, the Imperial has attracted tons of talent including Jay-Z, Fat Joe, Jim Jones, Swizz Beats, Joelle Ortiz, Maino, Red Café, Wale, Shelly and Junior Reid. We recommend checking out this party at least once… we guarantee you’ll be back for seconds. Click here for more information.

Sucka Free Sundays w/ DJ Self + DJ Envy @ Quo
511 West 28th Street, New York, NY 10001

One quality we look for in a hip-hop party is the lack of suckas bumming around the dancefloor – and that’s why Sucka Free Sundays at Quo has made the cut as one of the top hip-hop parties in New York City. The prince of New York DJ Self and the people’s choice DJ Envy are the resident DJs for this Sunday night bash, so you know they’ve got the sound on lock. Plus, Sunday nights at Quo is a prime night for birthday celebrations, making music mogul and celebrity sightings the norm at this hip-hop party. Click here for more information.

Stellar Sundays @ The Gates
290 8th Avenue, New York, NY 10010

Another hot Sunday night party to grace the hip-hop scene in NYC is Stellar Sundays at The Gates. This party has recently gotten super-trendy on the party radar, and with DJs like Kastone and Bobby Trends spinning on the 1s and 2s, we can’t say we’re surprised. If you haven’t been to The Gates before, then you definitely want to check it out – the space is classy, spacious enough for some dirty dancing, and if you want to have a seat, the tables are perfectly placed for bottle-popping chaos. If you’re a lady, then you’ll appreciate the extra love, since ladies are usually free all night at the Stellar Sundays hip-hop party. Click here for more information.

Re-Open-Ed: Friday Nights @ Santos Party House
96 Lafayette Street, New York, NY 10013

If you know what’s good as far as hip-hop goes in NYC, then you should know that Friday nights at Santos Party House is THE place to be. The first time we stumbled into this bash, Just Blaze was throwing down for his birthday, and with a soundtrack full of old skool rap, heavy hip-hop beats, and some live rapping, we were hooked to say the least. Since we’ve been back, the party has not been one to disappoint. This month, resident DJ Just Blaze is joined by other extremely talented hip-hop DJs like Clark Kent, Sake-1 and DJ Soul to bring you one of the hottest hip-hop parties in NYC with a seriously cool crowd.

Top Hip-Hop Party in NYC
TOCA! Tuesdays @ Sutra
16 First Avenue, New York, NY 10009

Resident DJ Tony Touch tears it up week after week at this super hot hip-hop party known as TOCA! Tuesdays. The bash weekly goes down at Sutra on First Avenue, and although you don’t normally think “hip-hop” when you go to this area, we think this party is worth straying from the beaten path. Special guest DJs Marley Marl, Talib Kweli, ?uestlove of The Roots and Evil Dee have made their mark on this top hip-hop party, so you know it’s worth checking out. Hip-hop, reggae, funk and soul are the norm on Tuesday nights at Sutra, raking in a well-dressed crowd of people who just want to get down to the music – no snooty attitudes and no strings attached. Friday and Saturday nights are also popular at this venue, with DJ Rob Flow controlling the, uhh... “flow” of the music. Click here for more information.

Top Hip-Hop Party in NYC
Fridays or Super Star Saturdays @ Promenade
215 W 28th Street, New York, NY 10001

In the past couple of months, Super Star Saturdays has hosted stellar musical guests like Mario, as well as a long list of notorious DJs, including Sussone, Kaos and Power 105's own DJ Will. As far as hip-hop goes, Promenade has created quite a name for itself, and it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere any time soon. The Friday night party as well as Super Star Saturdays brings in the best crowd (in our opinion) but feel free to check out the party any night of the week – we have a feeling you won’t be disappointed. Click here for more information.

Top Hip-Hop Party in NYC
Fantasy Saturdays @ Rebel
251 W 30th Street, New York, NY 10001

With three levels, five rooms, six DJs and the capacity to hold 1300 hip-hop lovers, it’s clear to see why this party could not be left off of our list. Rebel’s Saturday night party “Fantasy Saturdays” keeps the crowd moving with an urban level, a reggae room, and a soca room, so partygoers have the option to switch it up if they’re in the mood for something different. Fantasy Saturdays is truly a fantasy for all you hip-hop fiends out there, so make your way over to W 30th Street on a Saturday night if you’re looking for a monster hip-hop party (and we mean monster in terms of size AND quality). Top Hip-Hop Party in NYC
Fresh Saturdays @ Deity Underground
368 Atlantic Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11217

As far as Brooklyn Goes, Deity Underground has got the trendy hip-hop scene on lock. You may not have heard of this place before (we sure didn’t until a few weeks ago), but take our word for it: Deity Underground hosts some of the best hip-hop parties in Brooklyn and, in our opinion, all of NYC. DJ talent to grace this venue includes Rich Medina, Talib Kweli, Stretch Armstrong, Eli Escobar, Lindsay Luv, DJ Dummy, Shaheed Muhammad, DJ Shark, DJ Spinna and DJ Center. From old school hip-hop to new hip-hop, funk, soul and R&B, this party rounds out the hip-hop scene with a little bit of everything. Plus, the DJs know how to weave it all together and bring in a killer crowd, making Fresh Saturdays at Deity Underground a party you don’t want to skip out on.
