Looking for New York City’s hottest Latin Club? Well look no further, because nothing will top the list quite like Talay. It dishes a mix of Latin flavor with Thai décor, creating a sensual ambiance detailed with natural and high-tech elements. The entrance boasts two beautiful stone lion statues guarding the steel embedded wooden doors of the venue. These hard architectural elements are juxtaposed by vibrant hues of red, orange and cool blues, highlighting a streaming waterfall over a resin wall. Talay peaks all of your senses as you enter the first level, a soothing tranquil lounge set by tones of violet reds contrasted by bright neon lights. The unlikely, but fitting Asian artifacts adds to its appeal or maybe it Talay’s Kiss & Tell Saturdays.
This must-attend event has made this cool upscale lounge a permanent fixture in the uptown nightlife scene. Although the lower level has a capacity of about 1500 people, Talay has the reputation of an extremely strict door with highly selective bouncers. The crowd is young, sexy, well-dressed and for the most part, Latin. If you don’t fit the criteria, there’s a good chance you’ll be turned away at the door; otherwise be patient and prepared to pay a steep fee.
Drinks are pricey but the eye catching beauties in the room and great music will have you forgetting what your name is. Latin baseball players have been spotted at Talay, not to mention Busta Rhymes and other celebrities. Fat Joe and Young Jeezy recently featured Talay in their “Slow Dow” music video. It is no wonder Talay is sparking up so much controversy over their exclusive guest list.
