Top College Bars in Miami

Miami is known for its crazy parties, but those are mostly associated with South Beach. It’s not all about South Beach, and a lot of the college kids in town can tell you that. Remember, not everyone has the cash to party in clubs and lounges with the social elite, which is why they’ve staked their claim in Coconut Grove, the one area in Miami that’s definitely known as college turf. Filled with bars and restaurants, which bring in the young-adults by the droves, this one spot is where you’ll find the top college bars in Miami.

Sandbar Sports Grill
3064 Grand Avenue
Miami, FL 33133

If the bars in Coconut Grove were to have a ringleader, we’d say that would definitely have to be Sandbar Sports Grill. No matter the night of the week, you’ll always find college kids at this place downing beers and ordering dozens of shots for their friends. Of course, Thursday is the prime night for partying at this local haunt, but it’s also a hell of a place to enjoy a good after-work happy hour. If you like good music, then you definitely want to stay away from this place, but if you’re looking to have a good old-fashioned drunken time, then there’s no better college bar in Miami than Sandbar. It’s not the end all be all of nightlife in Miami, but sometimes you have to get away from the glitz and glam of South Beach.

Monty’s Raw Bar
2550 South Bayshore Drive
Miami, FL 33133
If you’ve been keeping up with the articles on Clubplanet, then you should know that we’re big fans of Monty’s Raw Bar in Coconut Grove. They have, without a doubt, the best happy hour on Friday night, not only in the Grove, but in the city! This place is absolutely teeming with college students on Friday nights ready to begin their weekend on a good note. Drinks are half off until 8 p.m., and if you show a little late, you can always catch up to everyone else by ordering one of their infamous PK3s -- a cocktail that’s heavy on the rum and light on the juice, but will get your party engine revving in no time. Definitely one of the top college bars in Miami, Monty’s Raw Bar also has a food menu to match its great happy hour.

Barracuda Raw Bar and Grill
3035 Fuller Street
Miami, FL 33133

If you pass by Fuller Street and don't really take a good glimpse, it’s pretty easy for Barracuda Raw Bar and Grill to go unnoticed. However, this place is one of the most popular college bars in Miami. Known for their beer pong tables in the back, the competition at this place can get pretty heated, so if you’re a novice player, this may not be the best place for you to pick up some game (show up early and you’ll have a better chance). The beer is cheap, the food is sub-par, and the bar is always slammed -- what else could you possibly want from one of the top college bars in Miami? There’s really not too much to Barracuda, other than their Jukebox that carries classic gems, which are always on repeat at any given point on a Thursday night.

Mr. Moe’s
3131 Commodore Plaza
Miami, FL 33101

Mr. Moe’s may sound like a character ride at Disney, but in Miami it’s known to be one of the most popular college bars. Located directly across from another popular local haunt, Chicago’s, Mr. Moe’s is known for the parties that place as well as for the food that they serve. If you’re really looking for something authentic, go up to their bar and order the infamous Moose Juice, a fruity concoction that’ll have you on your ass in no time. It comes in a giant Mr. Moe’s cup, so if you see anyone walking around with one of those, you automatically know that they’re in for a hell of a night. The gliders located just outside of the bar are the perfect place to cozy up with a drink, but get there early because they’re in high demand.

Chicago’s Steakhouse and Tavern
3148 Commodore Plaza
Miami, FL 33133

Formerly known as Firkin Fryers and Eleven Leprechaun among other names, Chicago’s is definitely one of the most popular hangouts for college students in Coconut Grove. This English pub look-alike is usually packed on Thursday nights, but go on any other night and you’ll still find yourself having a blast. It does get a little hectic inside, if you do decide to go on Thursday night, but remember, these are college students, not your local bingo club, so be prepared for anything. The beer selection isn’t half bad, so order up a proper pint if you get the chance to.
