At last night’s Oscars, DJ Joel Madden had the best seat in the house. Madden, the bad boy rocker, member of Good Charlotte and husband of wild-child, socialite Nichole Richie, was the first ever in-house DJ for the usually conventional Academy Award Show.
This year, the formal ceremony let its reigns loose and ran with DJ Joel Madden as their official in-house DJ. The producer of the Academy Awards, Adam Shankman, told PEOPLE, “I wanted there to be a party atmosphere and I wanted to make sure everyone in the room was having a great time. He’s one of the best, and knows most everyone there.”
Joel Madden livened up the crowd during the commercial breaks playing Motown and Soul, including his future-father-in-law Lionel Richie’s hit, "Easy Like Sunday Morning." Although Madden isn’t known for spinning '60s soul, he told an E! correspondent, “That’s the music I really love.” All in all, Madden claimed, “I was just glad to be there.”
