When anyone mentions Miami, they automatically think nightlife. But what many outside of the city don’t realize is that nightlife here isn’t limited to the city limits. It’s not only South Beach and downtown Miami, Fort Lauderdale has some serious nightlife playgrounds as well, and one that was opened up not too long ago has been getting a lot of praise. The Crobar nightlife family is world renowned, and just when you thought that they wouldn’t be back in South Florida at Crobar shut its doors in South Beach, they’ve decided to relocate and situate itself in Fort Lauderdale in the form of Exit 66, a hybrid of a nightclub whose features still amaze us every time we set foot inside.
The creators of Exit 66, Ken Smith and Callin Fortis of the Crobar family, have dubbed this place as an entertainment multiplex, a description most commonly associated with diverse malls across the nation, however, it’s more fitting when discussing Exit 66. When you ask anyone who’s been to Exit 66 what it’s like, they usually have a hard time explaining, considering there’s so much going on. From the lighting fixtures to the overall aesthetics of the décor, it’s hard for any other venue in South Florida to match up with Exit 66.
As you walk into Exit 66 many things will catch your eye, from the retro Polynesian pop at Chiki Tiki (a beach side retreat) or Woody’s Pleasure Liner Diner (featuring a classic American menu) it’s more about the variety of each room than the club as a whole. There’s something for everyone here. There’s even a VIP Burlesque territory that features nothing but mischief from Madame B.Atch’s Bunny Ranch. Sounds a bit unreal doesn’t it, but in actuality it isn’t.
Next time South Beach or downtown Miami doesn’t really spark any interest in your nightlife crusade, Exit 66 is only a short drive away and opens up its doors to a whole new world of nightlife entertainment.
