House-hungry patrons in Las Vegas have faced a dilemma for some time now. Many of the venues that have dared to play these beats are now defunct and the ones left keep dropping like flies as of recent. This deprivation can be stressful to any house lover, but no need to worry any longer. At Clubplanet we’ve done a little digging around to see what’s left out there for the house heads to feast on and here’s what we found.
TAO at The Venetian
3377 S. Las Vegas Blvd
Transport yourself to the Far East at this Asian inspired mega-club at the north end of the strip. If you want to rub elbows with celebrities and local socialites, there’s no more Zen-like setting to do so. Don’t be alarmed by the scantily clad ladies in flower petal-filled bathtubs as they are merely part of the decor. It’s Temple Tuesdays at Tao’s Ultra Lounge that hosts the sickest house DJs in Vegas, including residents DJ Galeano & DJ Digital Boy. It also features a soaring 20-foot hand-carved golden Buddha, an infinity pool filled of Japanese koi, waterfalls and walls covered in wood, stone and draped in velvet and silk.
Foundation Room at Mandalay Bay
3950 S. Las Vegas Blvd
This exclusive, members-only venue resembles an exotic, old estate house. It’s located at the top of the Mandalay Bay Hotel is not always open to the general public. Part of the House of Blues, it’s usually reserved for private events and you even have to take a private elevator to the 43rd floor. However, every Monday night at 11 p.m. it opens its door up to the public for special “Godspeed” after-hours party. It features three rooms choices playing hip hop, house or 80s groove. While up there, take advantage of the breathtaking views from a unique vantage point.
Jet at The Mirage
3400 S. Las Vegas Blvd
It features three distinct rooms and each has its own dance floor, DJ booth and sound system. The main room rocks out to a mix of Top 40 music and hip hop while the next room blasts a range of eclectic music from 80s to rock beats. The house heads have their own room with sounds being spun by their resident DJs, as well as big headliners like Tiesto. Mondays is their “3400 Destination House” party that will make your heartbeat pulsate until you get home with their unique light and laser grid and high-tech cryogenic effects systems. After opening up on the New Year’s Eve 2006, the Light Group has maintained Jet a step ahead of its competitors.
Risqué at Paris
3655 S. Las Vegas Blvd
Inside Risqué, at the Paris Hotel and Casino, is the recently inaugurated weekly Friday party called “House Room.” Opposite of the Red Room’s day beds and bongo players, you can find great sets from Robert Oleysyck, Freddy B and Ryan Christian. Reverse a table and you can even look out their balcony where you can catch the Bellagio’s water show as you sip on your cocktail and jam to sweet beats. Let there be house!
Rok Vegas at New York-New York
3790 S. Las Vegas Blvd
Competing for the Friday night spotlight is Patio Nights at Rok Vegas in the New York-New York. Its recent success can be attributed to DJs SmashBOX and Miss Dust with Steve Walker on percussion. If you head inside there’s a screen that wraps around the premises showing live club shots, concert footage, and eye-catching animations. If that doesn’t catch your interest, you could always venture to the unisex bathrooms for something new. Barely a month old, this party is already trying to steal someone’s thunder in the outdoor
section of the club.
