Michael Jackson was taken by an ambulance to a Los Angeles hospital near his home in Holmby Hills Thursday afternoon where he died after suffering from cardiac arrest, according to the Los Angeles Times and the Associated Press. He was 50-years-old.
Known as the "King of Pop," he began his career as a child and grew into the most talented and influential singer and dancer in our lifetime, as well as one of the most disturbing subjects in the tabloid world. His death comes before a highly anticipated comeback series of concerts that were to take place in London’s O2 Arena. It has been said in the media that this series of concerts would act as a catalyst for a career rebirth that would include a long concert series, a Graceland-like museum, movies and even a ‘Thriller’ casino.
It's going to be tough listening to remixes of 'Thriller' or any of his original work being played in the club now. You can definitely count on DJ's all around the club world to play some tracks this weekend and maybe even see a fan or two tear up on the dance floor as they moon-walk off into the bathroom to compose themselves. Here at Clubplanet we were anxious to see if this comeback would pull through, however, it's sad to see the icon leave us.
