50 Cent looks like he’s going back to his old-school rap basics. On his latest LP, War Angel, he takes his style into the hardcore hip-hop basics, creating new rhymes and verses that are definitely going to get him that level of attention that he had when he first broke out onto the scene in 2003. Not to say that 50’s lost it, he’s never even skipped a beat.
However, it is good to know that he’s not trying to mess with his formula too much, like many rappers seem to be doing now-a-days, and realizes that sometimes it’s good to stick with what got you to where you currently are. “The guy that’s trying to get a record deal right now, he should be writing with very strong passion,” says 50. “Right now, he’s in competition with 50, and I’m writing like I need a record deal. It’s tough for him.”
