The modern day dance floor is quite the marvel. Traditionally, nearly every nightlife venue around the world would always have a dance floor, the ultimate communal area for dance. But now, it seems that bottle service is more important and in high demand, and furniture seems more fun to dance on than a 40ft.x40ft. area. However, there are still venues out there that stick to the old-school and believe that the dance floor is the key in creating the atmosphere that their establishment needs. Although for Las Vegas dance floors are a dime a dozen, we’ve narrowed it down to the top dance floors that you should definitely try your two-step at.
XS at Encore
3131 Las Vegas Blvd
XS is located inside Encore, which is also within the walls of the Wynn Las Vegas. If you haven’t caught that XS is read like the word “excess”, you will figure it out once you step foot in this club. Drinks, dancing, and of course, fun, are in excess at XS. The 40,000 square foot nightclub opened in December of last year, and it cost a whopping $100 million to make. The money was well-spent, it is quickly becoming a hot-spot for those who are looking for some fun in Vegas – and really, who isn’t?
LAX @ Luxor
3900 Las Vegas Blvd. S
Even though Christina Aguilera is a part-owner and Britney Spears was the host of the grand opening, LAX is sure to attract more than just teen pop stars from the 90s. LAX was developed by the same team as PURE nightclub, and since its opening in 2007, it’s quickly rising to become the big thing in Vegas. Located inside of the Luxor, it’s been the place to see artists like Fat Joe and The Game perform, with DJ AM being one of the resident DJs, and if you’re looking to spot celebrities, perennial badass Dave Navarro and, well, Carrot Top, both frequent the venue.
PURE @ Caesar’s Palace
3570 Las Vegas Blvd S
Pure, located in the über-famous Caesars Palace, is a monster of a club. There are three huge dance floors inside, including the main room, which has had celebrity DJs and performances with upcoming events from Puddle of Mudd and Big Boi, the Pussycat Dolls Lounge, with shows featuring the Pussycat Dolls and guests like Carmen Electra, and the Red Room. It’s owned by Shaquille O'Neal, Andre Agassi, Steffi Graf and Celine Dion, and resident DJs have included DJ AM, so don’t be surprised if you rub shoulders with their celeb friends. This is the place to be fashionable, but not fashionably late. Admission skyrockets after midnight, and the place gets so crowded you might not be guaranteed an entrance.
Tao @ The Venetian
3377 Las Vegas Boulevard South
Tao is – you guessed it – an Asian themed club, located inside the Venetian Hotel. Since its opening in 2005, and the unique design of the club has been bringing club-goers and celebrities back and wanting more ever since. It is a restaurant, a lounge, and, of course, a club. Within the club, the Asian theme is everywhere, with Buddha statues, hundreds of candles, and other Zen-like amenities to make you feel peaceful even within a crowd of hundreds of people. The high-energy dancefloor is a huge offset of the otherwise peaceful club, with everything from hip-hop to top forty, and house to dance pumping through the vein of the crowd.
The Bank @ Bellagio
3600 S. Las Vegas Blvd.
The Bank has been a Vegas mainstay for over six years now, and after a renovation in 2007, it’s better than ever. They call it “The Bank” because it’s “a sanctuary for all things precious”, and this can definitely be seen throughout the décor of this Vegas club, and down to the dance floor. The three levels of the high-end club are elegantly decorated with deep, rich tones and modern elements, giving the club a luxurious feel. The music is eclectic; so don’t be too surprised when you’re jamming to Dead Prez one minute, then Lady Gaga the next.
Rain @ The Palms
4321 W. Flamingo Rd
With its opening in 2001, Rain was the first Vegas mega-club. Rain is huge – 25,000 feet – and the club provides entertainment for everyone. VIP skyboxes and cabanas fill the room, but if you don’t have the funds for that (they go for over $750 a night), don’t fret. The club is decorated with an amazing rain scheme, with water incorporated in every which way imaginable – fog, water displays, even through huge fire-clouds emitted from the center of the floor. The music is also something to look forward to – the list of resident DJs includes Paul Oakenfold, making it one of the hottest dance floors in Vegas.
JET @ Mirage Hotel & Casino
3400 Las Vegas Blvd S
The Mirage is a symbol of opulence. Opened in 1989, the hotel’s construction was the most expensive in history - $630 million to be exact. The hotel is known as the “father of the Vegas strip”, and it houses such year-long shows as Cirque du Soleil’s Beatles-inspired “Love”, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that one of Vegas’ best clubs is located in the hotel. JET is located in a huge, 15,000-foot space with four fully stocked bars and three distinct rooms to cater to every taste…in music. The main room features more mainstream music, including pop, hip-hop, and dance. Another has housed world-renowned DJs spinning house, and the last plays underground-everything, from 80s to rock. The laid-back environment is a stark contrast to the otherwise lavish hotel, so feel free to get wild on this hot dance floor.
Blush @ Wynn Las Vegas
3131 Las Vegas Blvd
Since August 2007, Blush Boutique at Wynn has been the place to party in Vegas. Located at the Wynn, Blush boasts the best dance floor on the Strip – and we’re not talking about the music or the atmosphere. At Blush, the floor is made of onyx lit up 300 color-changing lights on the ceiling, adding to the unique dance experience on this hot floor. When you’re finally able to take your eyes of the ground, check out the rest of the club – the patio adorned with plush seating, the electric artwork on the walls, and the TVs surrounding the overflowing bar.
