If a nightlife venue has to shut down for a short amount of time, we’re pretty sure that there has to be some sort of protocol set up for a PR rep who’s speaking for a nightclub, bar, or lounge. First of all, you don’t have to let your audience in on exactly why the venue has shut down. Second of all, when you do release this information, it must be done in a professional manner. And lastly, if you happen to break both of these rules, things will look just downright sloppy!
Well, you guessed it, this is exactly what a nightlife establishment in NYC did this past weekend. The Plumm, a Manhattan hot spot that prides itself in its décor, shut down last Saturday night, but the reason was left on a note in plain sight for all to see. What did it say? “THE PLUM WILL BE CLOSED FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS BECAUSE OF A LEGAL PROBLEM.” Really guys? You’re just gonna leak this information for everyone that passes by? Hell of a PR rep you guys have. Bravo! Not even the Beatrice Inn did this when they fell in a rut.
