While the majority of American’s enjoy going to restaurants for the thrill of not having to cook, or the luxury of enjoying a meal by a signature chef, there are those that go for the wine, oenophile’s if you will. Los Angeles has their fair share of amazing wine bars, but there’s one place that gets most of their attention from their food, when in actuality they wine selection should be getting just about the same amount of praise, Rivera.
Shipping in most of their wine from Spain, Portugal, and South America (primarily because it is a Latin cuisine restaurant), Rivera takes their wine very seriously. Waiters in the house and at the bar definitely know how to pour their wine correctly. If you didn’t happen to know that there’s a proper way to pour wine, stop reading, and google it now. You’re likely to impress many by doing so. The wine list at Rivera was put together by Steve Geddes, a master sommelier, and features rarities such as a glass of 1907 D’Oliveira Malvasia. That’ll run you about $128 though.
