Much to the surprise of many locals in Miami, not many of their hometown nightlife venues walked away with big prizes at the Club World Awards last week during Winter Music Conference. Which could be a sign that these awards are looking more at newer clubs, than they are at the powerful venues that ruled the awards before (of course we’re talking about Space Miami here).
Out of the many awards given out, Miami only walked away with five. Representing the nightlife in the Magic City were Mynt Lounge, Space, Parkwest, and Aero Bar. Parkwest probably walked away with the best award, ranking in at #6 in the ‘Best Club’ category. Space’s only claim to fame this year came because of DJ Oscar G, winning the #6 spot in the ‘Best Resident DJ’ category. All of the other venues that won are relatively new, giving us more insight on how this thing is actually judged.
