Last week, America decided it was about time for a change. And, with the inauguration of our 44th president, the majority of the parties covered were politically inspired. After many clubs stayed open Sunday night in honor of Martin Luther King day, the partying continued through the end of the week for Barack Obama.
Though most of the big names were in our nation's capital, (including our own Stanley), we were left behind to party at the New York Times official inauguration party at the New Museum. There were cupcakes, party hats, and open bars, but the highlight of the event was the photobooth that the NY Media elites lined up for in droves. The night prompted us to create a guide for attending such a NYC media event, which can be quite cliquey affairs!
With all of our attention focused on Obama, we almost forgot about our Sundance coverage, the festival that was taking place far away from Washington. Park City, Utah hosted celebs of all kind and we stopped by the most popular cafe there to visit some of the faces that were taking a coffee break in between film showings.
And finally, our favorite non-political themed party belonged to Jason Binn and Richard Johnson. They decided to share a birthday party together at Da Silvano so that they both could enjoy Niki Beel's performance, boob tassles and all. The guest list was quite impressive.
This week, we're looking forward to getting back in our groove. We plan on checking out the new party at 1oak put on by the Koch brothers (of Merkato 55 fame), and attending a couple of charity events. See you next week!
