The best part of winter is over: we've thrown away the scraps of torn wrapping paper, dumped the Christmas tree on the sidewalk and retired the Channukah candles back to the closet, and pulled down the blinking lights from our porches. Though now we'll have to weather the remaining 3 months of sludge, sleet, and sniffles without holidays and fanfare, at least we can drink like it's already July. Karu & Y's mango margarita combines the tart freshness of ripe mangoes with the acidic bite of blanco tequila to create a memorable, summery beverage to get you through the early nights.
Karu & Y's Mango Margarita
1/4 medium mango, chopped
3 ozs blanco tequila (such as Frida Kahlo)
1 oz freshly squeezed lime juice
1 oz agave nectar
Splash of orange-flavored liqueur (such as Grand Marnier)
Fresh mango cubes or a lime, for garnish
In a cocktail shaker, muddle together mango pieces and ice. Add tequila, lime juice, agave nectar, and orange-flavored liqueur and shake vigorously. Strain and serve up in a chilled glass. Garnish with mango cubes or a lime.
