After concentrating our efforts last week on the under-the-radar places in the city that the cool kids frequent, we were, time and time again, brought back to one of our favorite hot spots of yore: Bungalow 8. Bungalow 8 was the inspiration for our site's theme, and so, you can imagine, we wanted to give its reincarnation effort our best. Despite earlier speculations, the end of bottle service may not have been due to the faltering economy or dwindling liquor licenses. John Englebert (owner of Prime's and Susie Wong's) sent out a press release following Heather Locklear's DUI arrest that promoted an end to bottle service in the city.

Armin Armani, the ex-Bungalow 8 doorman received nods with his exclusive upstairs spot at Socialista. Well, he's decided there's too many "average folk" in the Socialista cafe below. He's turning it into an upscale, late night diner a la Florent that he hopes will be as tough as door policy as its sister above.

We rubbed elbows with with soccer enthusiasts including US Olympic Soccer player Heather O'Reily, Giants Michael Strayhand, and "Surviors'" Ethan Zohn at Marquee for the Grassroots soccer event. We then headed all the way uptown for an unprecedented interview at Dorrian's with Essentiall Emily.
Finally, we are sick of people keeping secrets from us. The "secret bars" may be passe, but we are positive there are other secrets out there that have yet to be unearthed. We will be on the lookout this week, hoping to share some of the more interesting ones.
