You’d be surprised to know how long of a way those fab clothes have to go from the runway to your closet. Even though timidity is the last thing associated with American, it seems that they do get cold feet when it comes to experimenting with avant-garde fashion. The ‘do-I-love-it-or-hate-it’ syndrome plagues even the boldest dresses; these secretly indecisive ladies need an authoritative guide—preferably one that's sexy, glamorous, and made in Hollywood.

I don’t mean to say that celebrities always get it right (we're looking at you, Tara Reid). But when they do, it’s making the labels, since we rarely hop into ready-to-wear pieces unless we see them on Lindsay Lohan first. And then we often scratch our heads saying: Why didn’t I think of that?

To keep you in the know, we spied on this season’s hottest pieces that would never make it without a helpful hand from our fashion-conscious tabloid tarts.

Hell for Leather: Leather Leggings

So Lindsay Lohan is known for her leggings fetish, but it’s Rihanna that takes credit for sporting the hard-core version of this skinny piece. Designed by the guru enterprise, Givenchy, they've now entered all stockrooms in their lowbrow version. And it’s pointless to argue here whether the chick or the egg came first; Rihanna broke the ice and took these leather beauties to the streets.

Ready to rock—Rihanna and the woman who introduced leggings to the masses show off their latest discovery. This time Lohan was second.

The Thin Black Line

Amy Winehouse has a love/hate relationship with fashion, and vice versa. Nevertheless, she became Karl Lagerfeld’s inspiration for an haute-couture collection. Meanwhile, her greasy-line make-up occurs more and more in the wild as well as on runways. We’re not sure if she’s conscious of spreading a make-up trend (how often is she even conscious?), but we sure are grateful. But please, leave the beehive behind.

Another bad-girl of the show business (at least before she met Pitt Charming), Angelina Jolie, went from smoke- to cat eye. She ditched the black clothes and mermaid coiffure and adopted a new, chic style even as she raises a small nation of biological and adopted children. She might be the most beautiful woman in the world, but a little extra touch can only help, and sometimes the cover makes the book. Especially in Hollywood.

Sandals -- Be Glad-iator

The warring spirit conquered the models way before Mary Kate Olsen, but now everybody keeps a fighting trim and a pair of gladiator-style sandals; heel or no heel. As often times, they went from Chanel, through a celeb, and to the populace. These sandals will make your feet happy, but remember not to kick stones.

She might have been voted the least sexy woman in the world by Maxim magazine, but what do guys know about fashion anyway? Like her Sex and the City persona, Sarah Jessica Parker fearlessly pursues adventurous styles and experimenting with the newly emerging extravaganza. Especially when it comes to shoes.

Into the Wild: Panther Print Tunic

Mena Suvari recently revealed her more edgy, dingy side in Stuck. No wonder she has to look ultra-fabulous to compensate for a weak movie where she wears braids. In real life, Suvari dazzles, revealing the wild side and meow factor that’s as hot as it is a la mode.
