Looks like Marquee’s rocky journey has hit another bump—a doorman turned away tarted up patrons this Friday, citing “maintenance issues.” The “CLOSED” signs taped on the notoriously exclusive nightclub’s doors don’t bode too well, either. Could this just be another false alarm? Marquee was forced to put away the velvet ropes earlier this summer—and egads, on a Friday!—due to rumors of drug dealing staff members. Never one to take defeat lying down, the resilient club reopened shortly thereafter (to models, celebrities, and cash-shelling i-bankers, at least) in time to celebrate Missy Elliot’s 43rd birthday extravaganza. A bouncer at Bungalow 8 speculated that Marquee finally lost its liquor license, though official reps are already calling the SLA’s shut-down a bluff. One thing's for sure: those oak doors look a lot less intimidating without an enormous bouncer planted in front of them.
[UPDATE: Our phones have been ringing off the hook all afternoon demanding an update: Marquee is open again! Rejoice! Since we updated this item, will you put us on your guestlist?]
