[Hugh Hayden, Lollipops NYC]
Clubplanet: Describe your personal style.
Hugh Hayden: Hmmm, juxtapositions of colors, sometimes pattern… always attention to the small details.
CP: Can you give us the rundown of your outfit?
Hugh Hayden: Hoodie is Alexander Herchcovitch, shirt is Paul Smith, pants are Dockers, shoes are Comme des Garçons, and a inverted promotional canvas bag from Innovations Wallpaper.
CP: Any style icons?
Hugh Hayden: Ha, myself… I don’t really care for trends, and don’t try to emulate. I wear what excites me, I think personal style should be self-evolving…nevertheless I am sometimes influenced by street fashion.
CP: Who are your favorite designers?
Hugh Hayden: There are designers like Comme des Garçons, Polo and Acne who occasionally make interesting things that are worth a splurge. But as an architect, there are many things not out there that I would like have made, those guys I just mentioned just come from the closest.
CP: Where are your favorite places to shop in NYC?
Hugh Hayden: Opening Ceremony and If Boutique.
CP: What’s too much for a man to spend on his shoes?
Hugh Hayden: Funny you ask it that way, because since I was little my shoes were always more expensive than my clothes. From a practical standpoint, a male should have a basic pair of shoes which can be worn with multiple outfits, justifying their increased value.
CP: Which New York club has the most style… in terms of its patrons?
Hugh Hayden: Hmmm I prefer the night scene in London more than NYC—people get more involved and passionate. I like this place called the Electricity Showroom in Hoxton, no themes but everyone there is wearing something interesting and is not afraid to dance in it.
