To be a Las Vegas local is a gift, one that we all take for granted at times, because we get so used to the preferential treatment. But then I remember it almost every weekend when I have friends come in from out of town, and they can’t believe how we just bypassed the line or got something for free.
To live in Las Vegas is to be surrounded by a world of hospitality, and Vegas truly is the city where “it’s all about who you know.” Living in Vegas in my twenties, I realize things are happening here that won’t happen again. We are living in a very special time, right here, right now. A time that none of us will forget. Here are a few things you can do when you have the VIP keys to the City of Sin.
1. Party In The DJ Booth
As a self-proclaimed DJ groupie, this is my preferred area of seating for several reasons. First, this is the only spot in any club that you can’t buy your way into. Everyone who’s in it is there because they are friends with the DJ, or they’re celebs doing a shout out. The DJ booth is the new VIP area. Plus, it’s good to hide there when the club is so packed you can’t really move.
2. Use The Back Door
If you’re a “key” local in Las Vegas, when you go to a strip club a lot of times you can go through the back door. Some of the hottest strip clubs in town incorporate this tactic. It makes for quick entry and gives local VIPs the key treatment that makes them return again and again. Also, celebs who don’t want to be noticed will enter this way as well, being able to slip right into the VIP room without notice.
3. Don't Wait In Line
Perhaps the coolest aspect of being a local in Vegas is not having to wait in line. There’s nothing better than walking past the line of people and having the velvet ropes parted for you. Vegas locals can look like superstars many times over. It’s all very fun.
4. Party With The Celebs
There’s nothing better than getting the black or gold wristband and gaining access to the suite after-party. This often happens at the infamous Hard Rock Celebrity suite—you know, the one with the bowling alley and the hot tub by the terrace? These parties are always tons of fun, as the booze is free and the celebs are always in attendance.
5. Enjoy Free Bottles
When you’re a “key” Las Vegas local, you will be invited to attend a club’s locals night and be able to get a great deal on bottle service. Locals night (for those who don’t know) is when the hotties of Vegas have the night off and are ready to get wild. The funny thing to tourists is that this can be Sunday through Thursday. Vegas operates on a completely different schedule than the rest of the country, and that’s why we love it so.
