                                        FUN

The Quantum Eye: Magic Show
The SoHo Playhouse
15 Vandam Street
New York, NY 10013
212.691.1555

Typically, a “magic show” is only for tourists, 8-year-olds, or a euphemism for porn. Thanks to blow-hards like Siegfried and Roy, it’s tough to take it seriously. But then there’s Sam Eaton. In his one-man show, he dazzles with simple, old-school parlor tricks like mind-reading. For instance…we can read your mind right now:…you’re still not really interested.

There comes a time. A time when you disregard your rent, bills, and groceries. 70% off on Miss Sixty and Energie denims? That’s one of those times. And the launch of their new flagship location is just the cherry on top.

Paris Hilton, vaginal plastic surgery, segregation and Robertson Boulevard.  Why hasn’t God wrought his wrath on Los Angeles yet?  Probably because Doc Martin still calls it home. The legendary house maestro will be popping his funky, acid-laced tracks at the quasi-new venue Rebel… come hear a whole city repent this Friday.

                                        CULTURE

Pilobolus
Through August 11 (various times)
Joyce Theater
$44
On their official site, Pilobolus is defined as “a phototropic zygomycete - a sun-loving fungus that grows in barnyards and pastures.” Riiiiight. Etymology aside, the Pilobolus dancers—equal parts pretentious and breathtaking—somehow contort their bodies into energetic, improbable configurations. Check out the NY Times review here.
